Even a brilliant career can hide the darkest of stories. Lolo Jones, who is the athlete of the USA and World the hurdle championships, achieved this title after a long period of dedication and perseverance. Jones, who was born into a single mother and had five children living in poverty and hardship as a child, had an extremely difficult early life. Her mother lived along the street and was even living within the basement of a local church at one point. The sporadic lifestyle led Jones to change schools and attend the same school each year, until she began high school. Jones was separated from her family during Theodore Roosevelt for the purpose of competing in track and field events. Jones was part of different families throughout high school, so that she was focused on her studies. Jones also played cello in the orchestra of her school.
